Frequently Asked Questions re:
Employee ownership investing course for foundations, philanthropic institutions, and philanthropic advisors
FAQs:
Who is the course for? Are beginners to the EO space welcome? How about seasoned pros?
The four-part course is designed for foundations, philanthropic institutions, family offices and philanthropic advisors. Both beginners and seasoned pros in the EO space are welcome. We will have tons of great content for you to explore.
What information will be covered? What will I take away from the course?
The course will begin with an introduction to employee ownership and then take participants on a deep dive into EO investing, deepening your learning, so no matter what level you join with. We aim to make the education as directly actionable to each participant’s situation and goals.
The course will provide you with:
- The foundational principles of employee ownership and EO investing.
- How to develop a customized EO investment strategy integrating grants, low-interest loans, program-related investments (PRIs), donor-advised funds (DAFs), guarantees, market-rate investments, and other innovative financing structures.
- Case studies demonstrating the effectiveness of EO.
- Opportunities to hear and learn from pioneering philanthropic investors and EO funds who have deployed capital in this space.
- Ample time both during and in between course sessions to get individualized support from the Ownership Capital Lab team through office hours and Q&A, which provide time for individualized consultation and support.

If I can’t make a session, will it be recorded?
Yes, we will record all four sessions and share both the recordings and slides with all our registrants. While we encourage live participation to make the course more dynamic and conversational, we know that not everyone can make all sessions.
Who will be teaching the course?
Alison Lingane, founder and CEO of Ownership Capital Lab, will be co-facilitating the course, along with Katherine Katcher, Director of Partnerships & Capital Mobilization Initiatives at Ownership Capital Lab.
