Over two years, the Accelerator will serve as the critical backbone for the field, ensuring that new interest and capital in employee ownership results in tangible, durable wealth-building for workers and communities.

We’re at a critical moment in American economic history. Over the next decade, 2.9 million small businesses are set to change hands as baby boomer owners retire. This massive transition presents an unprecedented opportunity to reshape how businesses create and distribute wealth.
Without intervention, these businesses face grave risks:
- Likely sale to private equity or competitors
- Wealth extracted from local communities
- High risk of job losses
- Only 1 in 5 businesses survive traditional ownership transitions
Our Solution: The EO Fund Accelerator
We’re creating a first-of-its-kind national initiative to strengthen employee ownership and catalyze systemic change. By supporting emerging employee ownership funds, we’re:
- Providing a scalable path to wealth-building for low-income, BIPOC, women, and rural workers
- Preserving and rooting businesses locally, sustaining jobs and regional economies
- Shrinking racial and gender wealth gaps while leveraging capital markets for inclusive ownership
