Gathering momentum: EO Capital Roadmap Preview at SOCAP25
We kicked off the week at SOCAP25 with a packed room and a lot of coffee—hosting a breakfast preview of the Employee Ownership (EO) Capital Roadmap. What we thought might be an early-morning conversation turned into a standing-room-only event, with 130 people registered and the room buzzing before 8am.
The energy said it all: people are ready for what’s next in employee ownership.
Why we gathered
This breakfast was the first public preview of the upcoming EO Capital Roadmap, the full version of which will be released this December. The Roadmap draws on insights from more than 150 fund managers, investors, employee-owners, field builders and policymakers from across the country.
We’ve been asking: How can we grow employee ownership investing to a meaningful scale—and do it in a way that keeps impact and integrity at the center?
The data confirms what so many of us are feeling: this movement is gaining real traction, and the next chapter will require coordination, creativity and capital. Scaling this vision will take all of us—aligning purpose, resources and imagination to make ownership the norm.
Our shared North Star
The Roadmap lays out an ambitious goal: mobilizing $1.5 billion by 2030 and $10 billion by 2040 into employee ownership investments that build wealth for workers and strengthen local economies.
To get there, we’ve identified four critical Action Areas:
1. Mobilize Investment – unlock growing sources of catalytic, impact and institutional capital
2. Power the Narrative – ignite demand with coordinated stories, proof points and visible champions
3. Deepen Infrastructure – build the backbone this space needs and deserves
4. Advance Policy – create the enabling conditions for scale
After we set the stage, we turned the mic over to some of the people helping lead this movement:
- Smitha Das, WES
- Todd Leverette, Apis & Heritage Capital Partners
- Margot Kane, Spring Point Partners
- Devin Murphy, Integrated Purpose
Each brought their own perspective on why this moment feels pivotal for EO investing — and how having a shared Roadmap can help the field grow with more alignment, visibility, and integrity. Their reflections reminded us that this isn’t just about moving capital — it’s about moving power, and making sure growth truly benefits the people who create that value.
What’s next
The full EO Capital Roadmap has now been released with deeper data, strategies, and stories from across the field. You can download the full roadmap here, and watch the launch event recording here!
We’ll be hitting the road in 2026 with a Roadmap Roadshow — shaping conversations with local partners in cities around the country and continuing to build the community of investors, fund managers, and practitioners leading this next chapter of employee ownership investing.
A huge thank-you to everyone who joined us to kick off the second day of SOCAP25, to our incredible speakers, and to all who have shared insights, feedback and inspiration along the way. This work is growing because of you.
Thank you to our sponsors for making this event possible!
